During a maintenance or service inspection, your furnace must be evaluated for safety of operation. If the service technician or utility inspector finds that your furnace is not safe, the unit may be red-tagged. A red-tagged furnace contains a critical safety problem because of a cracked heat exchanger or similar issue.
